What is the process of soil formation? How does climate influence these processes, giving examples? (6 marks)
Outline the features of a soil food web and illustrate by providing examples. Describe the relationship that exists between above ground autotroph biomass with the below ground soil community. What are the ecological goods and services provided by a healthy community of soil organisms? (10 marks)

(10 marks) Remember that your grade will be determined by how well you develop your answer and your justifications. You must include in-text citation.
What are acceptable sources of information for my responses?
A. The primary source of answers comes from the course Read and Attend sections. I consider a source as scholarly and academic if it is published in an edited book (not a textbook), in a peer-reviewed publication, in an academic journal, or by a university press. Most web sources will not meet the criteria for a scholarly source.
Note: Academic journals are located in the University Library (CLICK HERE) online, or through Google Scholar.
Wikipedia is not credible and must be avoided. Other sources such as study.com and coursehero practice plagiarism and are to be avoided. Newspapers and magazines are not scholarly sources and do not count as a source.
Citing a source does not give license to copy word-for-word or verbatim, which is still plagiarism. You must paraphrase the information in your own words. Plagiarism may result in zero points for the entire unit assignment and/or course failure.
Introduction: The Biblical book of Genesis is pretty clear on the fact that humans have dominion over all of the Earth. On one hand, White (1967) argued that Western biblical tradition (Judaism and Christianity) was at the root of the environmental crisis simply because humans are the master of and not part of the environment (God’s creation). On the other hand, an argument could be made that “to subdue the Earth” actually connects us to nature (the rest of creation) (Santmire 1991). Eastern religious traditions, for instance, believe that humans are indeed part of nature as do traditional Native American Indian practices.
. What is BPA? How might you get exposed to BPA?
2. Name and describe each of the four major types of environmental hazards.
3. Describe three reasons contagious diseases often claim more lives in developing nations than non-contagious disease.
4. Differentiate between an LD50 and an ED50 response to toxicity. Explain why there is a response threshold to some toxins.
5. Explain how scientists identify and assess risks.
6 Thoroughly describe the “Precautionary Principle” policy. Do you agree with this policy? Explain.
7. Using your own words, describe the three types of possible tectonic plate boundaries. Why do so many earthquakes and volcanos occur along the “ring of fire” circum-pacific belt?
8. Thoroughly describe the rock cycle.
9. What is a mineral? Why is it important that items that use minerals be recycled?
10. Describe two types of mining. What are the effects of each on the environment?
Each question must be answered from the text uploaded. Each answer must be cited in APA format with a minimum of 100 words. Each question should also be referenced to the text uploaded

Provide a specific example of 1 natural resource provided by the ecosystem that you have selected. (Note that air, water, and soil are common to all ecosystems.)
How can the one resource you have described be sustained into the future?
How can humans act as good stewards to assist the recovery of the ecosystem you have chosen after a disturbance? Provide 1 example specific to the ecosystem that you have chosen.
Utilize at least 1 credible source to support the arguments presented in the paper. Make sure you cite appropriately within your paper and list the reference(s) in APA format on your Reference page.
